Landscape

A horizontal landscape unfolds beneath a luminous sky, where soft clouds catch warm light above a distant horizon line. The composition is anchored by a band of water in the middle distance, whilst the foreground presents a textured field rendered in muted earth tones and greens. The artist employs a measured impressionist approach, building form through restrained brushwork and atmospheric perspective. Oil on board allows for the subtle layering of colour that characterises van Rensburg’s practice, developed during his transformative years painting the agricultural landscapes of the Overberg.
