Flowers

A vibrant composition of flowers rendered in bold, layered brushwork that dissolves form into colour and gesture. Red and pink blooms dominate the canvas against a deep blue ground, punctuated by yellows and warm accents that create luminous passages throughout. The paint is applied with visible energy, creating a sense of movement that prioritises chromatic relationships over botanical detail. Van Rensburg’s shift to acrylic in the 1990s enabled this expressive approach, allowing the immediacy of colour to take precedence over representational precision.
