Flowers

A vibrant study of blooming flowers rendered in oil on canvas, depicting full-petaled roses in shades of red and pink arranged in a vase of deep purple and yellow. Van Rensburg builds form through layered, gestural brushwork, allowing colours to merge and activate one another across the composition. The palette oscillates between warm florals and cool background tones, creating visual tension and depth. Working primarily in acrylic since 1990, the artist has extended his impressionistic vocabulary into oil painting.
