A dark horizontal band anchors the lower register, whilst a delicate line of metallic pigment traces the horizon, suggesting light breaking through obscured weather. The work employs wet-on-wet technique to create soft, bleeding edges that evoke rising mist and shifting atmospheric conditions. Paxton’s practice captures mood and light rather than literal topography, rooted in the South African landscape.
