A composition of layered mountain forms rendered in soft gradations of blue and grey, their edges dissolving into one another through wet-on-wet technique. A horizontal band of pale cream separates the peaks from a reflective lower plane, whilst a luminous gold line cuts across the composition at the horizon, suggesting light breaking through mist or illuminating water. The work privileges atmosphere over detail, creating a sense of vast, weather-laden space. Paxton’s practice centres on capturing mood and light rather than literal landscape representation.
