(c) Veld flowers

A field of yellow flowers rises from soft green stems against a dramatic, moody sky rendered in deep purples and indigos. The composition is divided by a sharp horizontal horizon line, above which atmospheric washes of colour suggest storm clouds or mist. A warm golden glow emanates from the upper portion, creating striking contrast against the darker tones. Paxton’s characteristic wet-on-wet technique produces soft, bleeding edges throughout, whilst the metallic accent punctuates the muted palette with luminous intensity.
