Harvesters

This oil work presents a densely layered composition of figures engaged in agricultural labour, their forms emerging from and dissolving into a richly textured ground of yellows, blacks and blues. The brushwork is vigorous and gestural, creating a sense of rhythmic movement across the board’s surface. Faces and bodies suggest harvest activity through fragmented, overlapping forms rather than narrative clarity. The palette oscillates between warm and cool registers, generating considerable visual intensity. Niemann’s practice of daily studio work and sustained technical study informs the painting’s confident handling of the medium.
