In flowers

A child in a rust-coloured garment sits amongst a verdant profusion of flowers, their pose relaxed and contemplative. The composition employs bold, warm tones set against cooler greens, with gestural brushwork that conveys both immediacy and intimacy. The figure is rendered with expressive simplicity, while the floral surround demonstrates careful attention to chromatic variation. Niemann’s practice of daily engagement with the painted surface is evident in the assured handling of this intimate oil work on board.
