Clown

A portrait study of a figure rendered in bold, expressionistic strokes against a vibrant red ground. The subject is depicted in profile, eyes closed, with simplified facial planes in ochre and cream tones, framed by dark hair. A blue collar or garment detail anchors the composition. The work demonstrates Niemann’s characteristic economy of form and emotional directness, executed in oil on board with a palette that prioritises chromatic intensity over naturalistic representation.
