Harvesters

A richly composed scene of agricultural labour, with figures bent to harvest work across an expansive landscape. Multiple workers in period dress—their forms rendered in deep blues, reds and earth tones—animate a rolling terrain of golden and ochre fields. Niemann employs vigorous brushwork and warm, layered colour to convey both the physicality of rural toil and the undulating topography of the land. The painting is executed in oil on board, a medium that allows the artist to build luminous depth across the composition.
