A dynamic figure dominates the composition, rendered in vibrant pastel with limbs splayed in an exuberant, almost acrobatic pose. The character wears orange and green garments, adorned with a crown and holding what appears to be a musical instrument or ceremonial object. The gestural quality of the work, with its energetic linework and bold colour blocking, captures a moment of uninhibited movement and celebration. Motau’s practice of drawing inspiration from the rhythms of Johannesburg street life manifests here in this portrait of jubilant expression.
