Playing in Pot

Two figures—an adult and child—are depicted in a moment of playful interaction, their forms rendered with gestural immediacy. The composition centres on their engaged postures, with warm earth tones and blues creating visual rhythm across the canvas. Loose brushwork and diluted pigments suggest movement and spontaneity, while the sketch-like quality preserves a sense of immediacy. Motau’s practice of recording lived moments from Johannesburg’s social spaces is evident in this intimate domestic scene.
