A portrait of a child rendered in vibrant acrylic, the composition dominated by the subject’s direct gaze and expressive features. The artist employs gestural brushwork across warm, layered hues—yellows, oranges and reds predominate, punctuated by cooler greens and blues that enliven the background. The paint application is loose yet deliberate, creating an immediacy that captures psychological presence rather than precise detail. Jerry Lion’s practice of recording moments from life in Johannesburg, particularly children at play, finds expression here in acrylic on board.
