Lions

Two lions occupy this horizontal composition with expressive, gestural brushwork that prioritises emotional intensity over naturalistic representation. The animals emerge from layered acrylic application, their forms suggested through bold marks and a warm, earthy palette dominated by ochre, amber and russet tones. The painterly approach conveys movement and vitality, whilst the simplified forms and energetic handling create an immediacy characteristic of expressionist practice. Mind Shana’s work since 2002 has consistently demonstrated this tenacity in stroke and vivid interpretation of his subjects.
