Landscape

A rural settlement nestles within an undulating landscape of vibrant, rhythmically patterned fields. White-walled buildings with red roofing anchor the composition, whilst mountains rise dramatically against a luminous sky. Le Roux employs bold, flowing brushwork to animate the terrain with stripes of yellow, orange, red, purple and green, creating a landscape that pulses with inner energy. The artist’s characteristic approach—investing considerable feeling into her portrayal of South African scenes through courageous colour deployment—generates a work of considerable expressionistic vitality.
