Isabel le Roux was born in Rustenburg, North West Province, South Africa. She is one of the most prolific artists in South Africa. Isabel has been painting professionally since 1974 and has held more than 36 (thirty six) solo exhibitions locally as well as overseas. Her works are included in the collections of numerous corporations and are sought after by art galleries, art dealers and private investors.

A first impression of her art is vibrancy. The courageous use of colour adds to the expressionistic quality of emotion and feeling. She paints life and creates her paintings in the journey of her own life. She is well known for her typical South African scenes, especially those from the Cape, but her travels abroad bring a new dimension to her work.

ISABEL LE ROUX began her career as an art teacher. In 1973 she left teaching and started her career as a professional artist.

 She had her first solo exhibition in1974 and has held more than 36 solo exhibitions locally as well as overseas. Isabel is one of the most prolific artist in South Africa. Her work is vibrant and contemporary.

Her work manifests itself in almost every facet of her life. A considerable amount of feeling and emotion is invested into every artwork that she creates illustrating much of her own journey in life. The abundant use of colour adds to the vibrancy of Isabel’s paintings. Her portrayal of the South African landscape and life-style is masterfully done. She is also well-known for her oeuvres depicting the Cape and its people. Her overseas travels also bring a new dimension to her work both in theme and maturity of artistic experience.

“You can always keep on painting, you just need to anchor yourself to a style or topic. Always keep taking one step forward, but keep one step back. Have one foot within the future, even if it means to leap forward. “

Every now and then she will write poems, she believes words and images works well together. “It helps formulate my thoughts.”
