Tail feathers

A steel silhouette depicts a cat and bird in dynamic interaction, their forms interlocking within a compact composition. The cat’s head and body occupy the lower register, rendered in bold, simplified contours, while the bird perches above, its distinctive tail feathers fanned in graphic detail. The work employs a graphic sensibility—characteristic of Kuijers’ early training in illustration—translating two-dimensional design principles into three-dimensional metal form. The interplay between predator and prey is suggested through spatial relationship rather than narrative action.
