A solitary white homestead sits elevated against a golden sky, its dark roof and pitched gable silhouetted against the warm expanse. Deep crimson earth dominates the lower register, rendered in gestural, layered brushwork that suggests both the physical terrain and an emotional landscape. A solitary tree punctuates the composition on the right. The palette shifts between earthy warmth and cool shadow, creating an intimate tension between shelter and vast emptiness. Glendine’s practice draws inspiration from the crumbling homesteads and red sunsets of the Karoo, rendered here with characteristic attention to the interplay of detailed form and expansive atmospheric space.
