Sunflowers

Three sunflowers occupy the composition in varying states of bloom, their heads turning toward an evident light source. The stems and broad leaves are rendered with confident linear marks, whilst the flower heads display concentric detail suggesting the characteristic seed patterns. Executed as a linocut, the work employs bold black outlines and crisp colour separation—yellow blooms against a pale blue background—creating strong visual rhythm. The technique exploits the medium’s inherent graphic quality, characteristic of Boonzaier’s exploration of printmaking throughout his long career.
