District 6

A vertical composition depicting a densely built urban street receding towards a prominent church tower that dominates the skyline. The scene is rendered in bold black lines and strong contrasts characteristic of the etching medium, with figures and architectural detail suggesting the vitality of a working neighbourhood. The sky is articulated with parallel hatching lines, creating atmospheric depth. Boonzaier’s engagement with South African urban life reflects his long commitment to documenting social spaces through his art.
