(c) Berzelia Button bush Fynbos

Berzelia button bushes dominate this composition, their distinctive clustered flower heads rendered in naturalistic detail against a neutral ground. The plants rise in dense formations across the picture plane, their stems and foliage articulated through varied brushwork. Templeton employs bold, decisive strokes and her characteristic palette knife technique to build texture and depth, creating a landscape study that hovers between botanical precision and contemporary impressionism. The work exemplifies her recognition for crisp colour application and expressive handling of natural subjects.
