Aurum Lilies

A dynamic composition of lilies rendered in bold graphic forms, their petals and stems interwoven with decorative intensity. The flowers emerge from a textured vase at the composition’s centre, their organic shapes creating rhythmic movement across the picture plane. Executed as a linocut, the work employs the medium’s characteristic stark contrast between black and white, generating visual energy through decisive mark-making and carefully balanced positive and negative space. Boonzaier’s engagement with printmaking demonstrates his versatility beyond the landscape and still-life paintings for which he was primarily known.
