Aurum Lilies

A botanical study of lilies rendered in bold linocut technique, depicting a densely clustered arrangement of blooms at various stages of opening. The composition rises vertically from a rooted base, with petals rendered through confident, linear marks that create texture and movement against the dark ground. The high-contrast black-and-white palette produces a striking graphic quality, emphasising the sculptural form of the flowers. Boonzaier’s long career encompassed numerous still-life subjects treated with the observational intensity characteristic of Cape Impressionism.
