A hillside settlement emerges from darkened landscape, white-walled houses clustered against autumn woodland. The composition draws the viewer’s eye from a solitary blue-grey cottage in the foreground, its simple geometry echoing the domestic structures beyond. Benzon employs his characteristic palette-knife technique to build textured surfaces, creating distinctive impasto effects across the rocky terrain and foliage. Warm ochres and browns anchor the earth whilst cool blues define the architecture and sky, establishing a contemplative atmosphere between the cultivated and wild. The work demonstrates the artist’s mature style developed independently from his early mentorship.
