A coastal landscape rendered in acrylic, depicting a serene bay with rocky outcrops anchoring the composition. The view extends from a sandy foreground through turquoise shallows to distant cliffs beneath an expansive sky. Barnes employs loose, gestural brushwork to capture the interplay of light across water and land, layering translucent glazes to suggest atmospheric depth. The palette shifts from warm ochres and browns in the immediate foreground to cool blues and purples receding toward the horizon. Created in 2003, this work demonstrates the artist’s command of acrylic’s fluid properties.
