A vibrant floral arrangement in a green glass vase occupies the centre of the composition, displaying a profusion of blooms in red, yellow, orange, blue, pink and white. The flowers are rendered with gestural brushwork against a luminous, warmly toned background that shifts from golden yellows to soft oranges. The acrylic paint is applied with visible energy, creating a sense of immediacy and movement throughout the piece. Gericke’s work demonstrates the influence of his South African contemporaries whilst maintaining a distinctly personal approach to the still-life tradition.
