Although born in Cape Town Loubser grew up in a small town called Potgietersrus. This remote corner of the world which consists of scenic bushveld surrounded by the beautiful 'Waterberge' encouraged her landscapes and love for nature and the outside world. Loubser graduated in 1998 with a Graphic Design Diploma at the Tswane University of Technology under the guidence of lecturers such as Carl Jeppe, Anette Pretorius and Lynette Ten Krooden.Situated in Pretoria Jodie explores her country regularly and developed a passionate love for the ocean. She also draws a lot of inspiration from European adventures of landscapes, interiors, architecture and art of the old masters.Loubser have been a full time artist since 2011 who enjoys the freedom to challenge new methods of applying paint. With her realism she prefers a natural soft pallet and with her admiration for the impressionistic French influences she draws the viewer into a contrasting more colourful pallet knifed interpretation. There is a privacy of emotion in her subjects which leaves the viewer with a memory of nostalgia. You cannot fail to realize that each painting has its own story and emotion woven within the technique and there is true challenge in trying to unravel your memory experienced by each portrayal. As a result of her passion she has had successful exhibitions in which her work has found its way into private collections, both local and abroad.
