This acrylic work employs layered brushstrokes and gestural marks to create a non-representational composition dominated by cool tones. The artist has built up the surface with bold, overlapping strokes in varying intensities, establishing a complex visual rhythm through the interplay of colour, line and texture rather than depicting recognisable forms. The result generates an emotional landscape that invites individual interpretation. Brightmore’s practice, developed since retiring from teaching in 2019, prioritises abstract expression and the viewer’s emotional engagement over traditional visual representation.
